Nailbed Tumour with Ingrown Nail [CN-230308]

A 36 years old male had blunt trauma over his left thumb nail bed 6 months ago. He had developed swelling over nail bed which was slowly growing, painless, non-compressible, soft in consistency. Nail was gradually ingrowing. There was slight tenderness on fingertip on touch/pressure.

Nail was avulsed under Digital Block. A greyish colour tumour was found on nail bed. Tumour was excised to its extent. Tissue sent for histopathological examination.

Histopathological Report

Microscopic examination:

Sections show skin with soft tissue. It reveals a benign nerve sheath tumour made of spindle cells with wavy nuclei.

No malignancy is seen.

Diagnosis: Neurofibroma.
